Another Beesley Update

Thought I'd post again, since there are so many others joining in!!

Courtney will be home in 9 days. She leaves for Liverpool and York tomorrow and then on to Scotland for 5 days and then home to the USA on the 12th of Aug. She is having a fabulous time and i don't think she really wants to come home, but we have missed her!!

Mer is working at the salon and has an interview on Thurs for a job at Maly's Beauty Supply. She could get a discount on all her product. That would be sweet, not to mention another paycheck coming in!

Bergen just got home from girls camp. She got to do the overnight hike where they pack in everything they need for the night and then pack it out. The good news is she survived!! This was her first year at camp without a sister or mother there and she was fine! (although she may have had her moments) She starts the driving portion of her drivers ed next week and if she passes that, she is a shoe in for her license on her b-day.

Carter was at Scout camp this past week too (yes, our house was extremely quiet!) He had a great time and had the dirt on him to prove it. He passed the polar bear test where he had to sit in a 40 degree stream and stay for 10 seconds. Can you say ice cube? He was the senior patrol leader and his leaders said he did a great job. He starts football hard core today and is hoping to make the A team.

Curtis , Mer and I went to pick up Carter from camp. It was up near Yellowstone. We went through Rexburg and saw the new temple (beautiful, especially at night) and Cliff's stomping grounds, BYU-I. WE picked Carter up and continued on the 52 mile gravel and dirt road. When we finally hit pavement, low and behold, we had a flat tire!! Anyway, we came home through Jackson Hole, Wyoming and I relived some of my memories from 28 years ago when I worked on the dude ranch. The Tetons were gorgeous as well as Jackson Lake. We also went by Bear Lake in ID. The water looked like Hawaii. It was beautiful and very inviting. We were glad to get home after a day filled with driving, but we did see some neat things.

That's our life in a nutshell!!

A Quick Update on Maryn

Ok, so I'm not sure if I'm doing this right, we shall see. I suppose I could ask Cassidy to help me, since parents of teenagers DON'T KNOW ANYTHING, but I'm going to try it on my own first. Thanks to Cassidy for getting this set up. I look forward to hearing everyones news and will enjoy getting a first-hand report from everyone on what's happening as well as seeing some fun pictures.

I only have time to give a quick update, but wanted you all to know that Maryn is doing much better with her Bells Palsy. I'd say she is at least 50% better. When she laughs, I think she looks like Mad Eye Moody, because her left eye stays wide open while the other eye squints. It is pretty cute. I'm proud of her for keeping such a great attitude. She is such a fun girl! Hopefully we will be seeing more improvement each day.

Beesley Family News

I thought I would update everyone on what has been happening in UT.

Meredith got a job yesterday. WOOHOO!! After months of searching she is semi gainfully employed. She starts on Fri and will be working in a Salon (I think it's in Murray) as an assistant right now (part time). She can work up to a stylist, but this salon has booth rent and that is not her ideal scenerio right now. She continues to cut hair in her apt and does pretty well, just with that.( read: able to pay her rent) She is missing Court, things seem a little lonely without her.

Speaking of Court. She is in London now and has three flat mates. She really likes them and is having fun. Yesterday (their first in London) they went spur of the moment, to see Hamlet with Jude Law. She said it was amazing! She loved Wales and said that it surprised her how beautiful it was. Today their whole group is up in Oxford. Next week she sees Wicked and goes to Paris. Definitely some bucket list items will be crossed off!! (and Harry Potter comes out! Just may be too much excitement for one week!)

Carter went to a football camp down at BYU with a bunch of their former players on Tues. He worked with the quarterbacks and took some tips from John Beck and Max Hall. Our friend Cam Jensen ran the camp and was Carter's coach for their "tournament" and said Carter did awesome. He had a lot of fun and is looking forward to football season.

Bergen is a book worm!!! If it wasn't for baking, she would never put her books down! I am making her come into the basement with me and scrapbook while I sew.( a good excuse to get me down there and working on some of my MANY projects!!) Our mutual went tubing down the Weber River last night and the kids had a good time. To hear Berg tell it, she missed the get out point and almost hit the huge rapids that would have dumped her out into the Great Salt Lake in a million pieces. (this is what the leaders told the kids to get them out on time) I don't think it was quite that harrowing, but Berg told a good story with all the appropriate drama! She goes to girl's camp at the end of July. (the same week that Carter will be at Scout Camp. SCORE for mom!!)

Curtis continues to plug away at work. Things are staying steady. He hired two new salesmen, one in Washington and one in So Cal. so, things should pick up even more. Most of you probably know that he fulfilled a life long dream and a couple of weeks ago when he played Pebble Beach and some surrounding courses. He had a great time and is still playing them in his head. Cross off a Bucket list item for him!

Bringing up the rear is me, the one who doesn't even have a Bucket list put together!! Nothing much going on with me. Although I forgot to mention that Berg has her permit and just finished driver's ed. So, you know what I'm doing. Sitting white knuckled in the passenger seat trying to keep my patience and console a teenager who thinks I am ticked when I scream "slow down" . It is just called self preservation, and one of the scariest things that a mom will ever be called on to do. You just feel so totally, out of control!! ( i guess i am a control freak!) I'm looking forward to football season (not driving carter to practice everyday starting in Aug.) but, to watching the Cougs play. Which also means fall is just around the corner, and cooler weather. I am not really complaining though. We have had awesome weather so far, not too hot!

OK I'm done. You did ASK me to contribute to this you know. If you uninvite me, I will understand and not get my feelings hurt.
